FAQ

How does ordering from Sunroof Express work?

The first step is selecting your vehicle using the Part Search feature.  Once you select the year, make, and model you will be able to choose the part(s) you need.

When it comes to your installation, we've got you covered there as well.  By choosing shipping option "To Local Recommended Installer," we'll send your part(s) directly to a network installer based upon proximity to your address, shop services, and equipment required to perform the installation compatible with your part(s).  With the largest sunroof replacement network in the U.S., we have shops within a 30 minute drive of most customers.

Where can I have my sunroof installed?

We have an extensive network of installation professionals located in all 50 states. With over 5,000 participating shops nationwide, we can ship your part directly to a Recommended Installer near you.

If I elect to have my part(s) shipped to a Sunroof Express Recommended Installer, when will I know the shop information?

By selecting to have your part shipped to and installed by a Sunroof Express Recommended Installer, you will receive a shop confirmation email after your initial order confirmation email.  Your initial order confirmation email will show your address provided as the ship to address, however, the parts will be sent directly to the shop should you select any shipping option displaying "To Local Recommended Installer".  Based on the specific part ordered, we will direct you to the appropriate shop based upon the proximity to your address as well as the shop services and equipment necessary to perform the installation.

How long will it take for parts to arrive once I place the order?

Does Sunroof Express use OEM (Original Equipment Manufactured) glass when replacing my broken factory sunroof glass?

Absolutely.  We only use the OE replacement part that was designed specifically for your vehicle.

How long does the replacement sunroof installation take?

With a standard installation, common with single panel sliding sunroofs, it will generally take about 60-90 minutes.  If there is excessive glass clean-up, the installation may take longer.  If your sunroof replacement requires a headliner drop and/or urethane, installation times will vary.

How do I check the credit status for returned items?

If an email address was provided when placing the order, you will receive a confirmation email once the credit is processed.  You can also check status by calling (833) 500-1444.

Do you offer mobile sunroof replacement service?

Due to the complexity and equipment required, the sunroof replacement service will take place in-shop (some exceptions may apply).

I have a factory installed sunroof; can I replace it with an aftermarket sunroof?

No.  The only replacement sunroof that will fit in your vehicle is the factory sunroof.

I have an aftermarket installed sunroof; can I replace it with a factory sunroof?

No.  The only replacement sunroof that will fit in your vehicle is the exact same aftermarket sunroof.

Will any special tools be needed to install the sunroof (generally)?

Tools needed to install your sunroof are specific to the type of sunroof you have.  In general, you will need a 10mm socket, a star bit T20 or T25, and a Phillips head screwdriver.  If glass was shattered, consider using a shop vacuum for glass clean up and use a flashlight to ensure all glass is removed.  A protective covering over the roof of your vehicle near the sunroof and on the interior of your vehicle is recommended.

Yes, technical assistance is available over the phone Monday - Friday, 8:30 am through 5:30 pm EST.  A representative will assist you with any help needed and can provide instructions and/or tips for successful installation.

For repair shops - If my customer comes to me with an insurance claim, who processes it? How does the interplay between Sunroof Express and my shop work as it relates to an insurance claim?

Sunroof Express manages specialty auto glass roof panel claims for most major insurance companies.  In many cases, the claim is dispatched to our claims department and goes through and approval process and is then shipped to your facility.  The parts can be ordered via our website or by calling (833) 500-1444.

I have a sunroof that is leaking, what should I do?

For electric inbuilt sunroofs (glass retracts into the vehicle under the headliner); in the trough around the inside of the sunroof, there will be drain tubes (usually found in the corners) to allow water to run through.  These drain tubes can become clogged over time.  The best way to unclog them is to use an air compressor.  Most of the time, a compressed force of air will clear the tubes.  If it does not, we recommend you have your local sunroof technician clean out your drain tubes.  If a mistake is made and your drain tubes detach, the water will run directly into your vehicle.

What is a panoramic sunroof or roof?

In general, the term "panoramic sunroof" is used when there is more than one roof glass panel on a vehicle.  Many panoramic roofs consist of three parts; the front, the center (movable), and the fixed rear glass.  Others consist of two separate roof glass panels, a front sliding (or fixed) and a rear stationary.  In some instances, a vehicle may have one large stationary roof glass.

Should I use the new car dealer to replace the sunroof glass?

To simply replace the broken sunroof glass, dealerships will typically quote replacing the entire sunroof cassette by removing the headliner, sun-visors, console, pillars and airbags, driving up the cost of the repair substantially.  This repair diagnosis is commonly unnecessary and the final cost, in time, money, and wear and tear can be excessive.  Our process has us determine the most practical, efficient and complete repair without adding unnecessary time or material.

What can I do to weather secure my broken sunroof until my replacement arrives?

We recommend using automotive "crash wrap".

Can I track my shipment electronically?

Yes, your package can be tracked via a FedEx tracking number or USPS tracking number.

What shipping method do you use?

We are partnered with FedEx and USPS.

Will I need to sign for my package once it's delivered?

The majority of deliveries are at the discretion of the carrier and a signature is not required.  However, depending on the type of address for delivery or declared value of the item, a signature may be required.  If you would like to ensure your package is delivered without requiring a signature, please contact the carrier and request the package be delivered without a signature.  You may be required to sign an agreement prior to delivery assuming responsibility for the delivered items.

You may also have the items shipped directly to one of our thousands of Recommend Local Installers as part of the installation service.

Are there any financing options available?
